One of the many facets of Satyajit Ray’s multi faceted artistic aptitude is his writing skill. Ray wrote copiously for children. He created characters for children that will remain etched in the memories of those who enjoyed them in their childhood. Although his target audience was children most of the books Ray wrote for children were also enjoyed by adults.
The publishers for Satyajit Ray’s Bengali fictional work were Ananda Publishers from Kolkata. He also published the screen-plays of his Bengali films in the well-read magazine “Ekshan” whose editor was Ray’s dear friend; Nirmalya Acharya. Even after his death, a lot of work; both non-fiction and fiction was published in the western countries. Many of his Bengali short stories were translated into English and published in the west.
Most of the books in the list of Books written by Satyajit Ray were for children. Among these the Feluda stories and the stories of Professor Shanku hold special interest because of the well-loved main characters; Feluda, the sleuth and Professor Shanku, the scientist.
